The Municipal Enterprise of Xino Nero was established to ensure that this natural treasure is bottled and reaches the consumer safely, reliably, and with consistent quality. From 1958 until today, the factory has evolved, investing in modern technologies and adapting to international standards.

Strict quality controls, continuous upgrading of facilities, and ongoing research and development are key pillars of its strategy. The company does not merely preserve tradition, but systematically invests in progress and outward growth.

History

Perhaps our history begins with Alexander the Great himself, who, according to legend, quenched his thirst from our spring while leading his army through our lands. However, our modern history begins more than a century ago.

1912

A legend from the depths of time

During World War I, French General Franchet d’Espèrey, installed a bottling facility near his headquarters to utilize the water, which he considered comparable to the best French mineral waters.

1958

The First Bottling Unit

In 1958, entrepreneur Alexandros Chonaios undertook the commercial exploitation of the water, establishing the first bottling unit.

1992 - 1999

Transition to Municipal Management

In 1992, the exploitation of Xino Nero was transferred to the Community of Xino Nero, and from 1999, it became part of the Municipality of Amyntaio.

2010

The Modern Era

In 2010, the enterprise was transformed into "XINO NERO MONOMETOCHIKI ANONYMI ETAIREIA OTA", with the Municipality of Amyntaio as its sole shareholder.

The reputation of Xino Nero began traveling beyond the village borders as early as the beginning of the 20th century. In 1912, its water was recorded for the first time as “therapeutic,” quickly gaining a special place in both the scientific community and popular consciousness. It soon participated in international exhibitions, winning awards for its quality, distinctive taste, and beneficial properties.

One of its most distinctive features has always been its fully natural carbonation, a rare and precious trait. The water is recognized as naturally carbonated at its source.Its organized bottling began in the mid-20th century, with the creation of the local Municipal Bottling Enterprise of Xino Nero.The company is not merely a production facility but a pillar for the local community, operating according to social responsibility standards. Revenue supports public projects, jobs remain local, and the product retains its authenticity without being sacrificed for mass production.

Despite the challenges of the times, Xino Nero maintains its unaltered quality. Every bottle leaving the factory carries a piece of the region’s soul: the altitude, the springs, the land, the mountain air, and the tradition of a community that still believes in the values of “pure” and “genuine.”

Xino Nero and Recognition

The international recognition of Xino Nero began in 1930, when the region’s water was distinguished at the Thessaloniki Exhibition. Since then, it has received numerous awards at international exhibitions, with the pinnacle being the Gold Medal at the Vienna Exhibition in 1937, recorded as one of the finest natural mineral waters in Europe. At the same time, Xino Nero reached pharmacies, sanatoriums, and prestigious hotels, gaining fame that extended beyond Greece.

In the post-war years, official recognition of the water as therapeutic by the Greek state strengthened its reputation, and the establishment of the Municipal Bottling Company marked a turning point: the water ceased to be merely known; it became a symbol of quality and local pride, with continuous participation in taste and quality competitions and coverage by Greek and international journalists.
